Pyramidal weight in dioriteThe inscription of Darius I is in Old Persian, Elamite and Babylonian. The Old Persian inscription reads ‘120 karsha. I [am] Darius the great king, king of kings, king of countries, king in this earth, son of Hystaspes, an Achaemenian.’
The Elamite version also starts with 120 karsha, but the Babylonian version starts with 20 mina. Two karshas equal one third of a Babylonian mina. Its modern weight is 9.95 kilos. The form of this kind of weight is Mesopotamian in origin. Persepolis
